On-line survey tool and focus group session welcomes community feedback on proposed Declaration of Values aimed at improving patient experience
Newmarket, Ontario – April 15, 2011: Southlake Regional Health Centre is looking to community residents for their feedback on a proposed Patient Declaration of Values, which will serve as a driving force behind the quality of care patients can expect to receive while in Hospital.
As part of Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAA), which ensures Ontarians receive healthcare of the highest quality possible, hospitals across Ontario are required to develop a publically available Patient Declaration of Values. As outlined by the ECFAA, the document will ensure hospitals put patients first and support patient-centred care by clearly stating what Ontarians can expect when getting their healthcare services.
The ECFAA wants to ensure that the voice of the patient is represented in the Patient Declaration of Values, and therefore require that all hospitals seek public consultation and feedback on the proposed document. The feedback received from community residents will result in a final document that supports the delivery of care at Southlake and strengthens the organizations focus and accountability.
Community residents interested in commenting on the the proposed Patient Declaration of Values may provide their feedback by participating in one of the following:
