Southlake Announces Interim President & CEO
Newmarket, Ontario – December 21, 2010: Earlier today, the Board of Directors of Southlake Regional Health Centre announced that Dr. Louis Balogh will assume the position of interim President and CEO, effective Friday, January 21, 2011.
"The Board is very confident in appointing Dr. Balogh as interim President and CEO of Southlake,” stated Stephen E. Quinlan, Chair, Board of Directors. “In addition to having a long history with Southlake, Dr. Balogh has the healthcare experience and leadership skills required to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital.”
Dr. Balogh will serve in the interim position until such time as the Board of Directors appoints a permanent replacement.
Dr. Balogh joined Southlake’s (formerly named York County Hospital) medical staff in1980 and since 2004 has held several notable appointments, including Chief of Medical Staff and Vice-President of Southlake’s Regional Cardiac and Cancer Programs, Surgical and Medicine Programs, Ambulatory Surgical Clinics and Risk Management. During his tenure as interim President and CEO, Dr. Balogh will maintain his duties as Regional Vice-President of Cancer Care Ontario and Chair of the Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Regional Cancer Steering Committee.
On December 9, 2010, Southlake’s Board of Directors announced that Daniel P. Carriere had resigned in order to accept the position of President and CEO at the Centric Health Corporation. Mr. Carriere’s last day as President and CEO of Southlake will be January 21, 2011.
