Southlake Trying To Raise $10 Million To Buy Equipment
Newmarket, Ontario - October 1, 2004 -
You've got to be equipped to excel…
Newmarket, Ontario – September 27, 2004 Southlake Regional Health Centre is counting on the generous support of the residents of York Region and South Simcoe County to raise $10 million for much needed medical equipment.
"Ten years ago we promised you that Southlake would evolve our programs and services in order to offer the most advanced life-saving treatments closer to home," says Dan Carriere, President & CEO. "We've delivered on that promise and are committed to keep doing so. Which means that when you, your family or friends are facing a medical crisis, we'll always be there for you."
In June, Southlake opened a new, six-story building as part of its $180 million expansion and redevelopment program. But Southlake still needs support from the community. Replacing old, worn equipment and acquiring new, more advanced medical tools is a constant struggle for hospitals. Southlake’s expansion, the population growth in York Region and Simcoe County and evolving medical technology have created a need for more and newer equipment.
“This specialized exercise equipment was a perfect fit given our focus on health,” said Gary Lester, who pledged $85,000 on behalf of the Glenway Charity Classic Golf Tournament to purchase the equipment required to expand Heart Works - Southlake’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. “We just completed our $100,000 pledge, a year ahead of schedule, to fund the construction of York Region's only Cardiac Rehabilitation Walking Track and we wanted to follow through with a complete package for the Cardiac rehab centre. We hope to enjoy continued success with the Glenway Charity Classic Golf Tournament so that we may continue to provide much needed support for Southlake.”
The Southlake Equipment Fund Gift Guide will be distributed in local papers the first week in October. For more information about the Southlake Equipment Fund call Julie Castle (toll-free) 1-866-793-1690 or visit the Southlake website at http://www.southlakeregional.org
