Southlake Recognized as one of GTA's Top 75 Employers

Newmarket, Ontario - October 20, 2008 - Southlake Regional Health Centre is proud to announce that it has been successful over hundreds of other applicants and been recognized as one of the Greater Toronto Area’s Top 75 Employers for 2009 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. 

The 2009 edition of the list was published in the October 18 edition of the Toronto Star.  The prestigious award recognizes employers throughout the Greater Toronto Area that work to create a positive and rewarding work environment for their employees.

“To say we are pleased by this award would be an understatement,” says Daniel Carriere, President and CEO of Southlake Regional Health Centre. “We’re ecstatic but not completely satisfied as our objective is to be recognized as a Top 100 Employer in Canada within the next two years. This recognition is a reflection of how far we’ve come as an organization and our commitment to make Southlake a great place to work, practise, volunteer, and receive care.”

This year’s recognition is a great achievement for Southlake whose culture puts a strong emphasis on creating an environment that is committed to living the organization’s Values each and every day. Over the past year, Southlake has revamped its employee recognition program to acknowledge those people who put forth exceptional efforts that contribute to the Hospital’s overall success and align with the organization’s Core Commitment, Strategic Plan and nine principles of Hardwiring: Transforming from good to shockingly excellent.

According to Eluta.ca, a partner site of Mediacorp Canada Inc., Southlake was recognized as a GTA Top Employer for the great emphasis the organization places on supporting its employees through various programs including retirement planning and preparation, and ongoing education opportunities.

In order to be a part of the 2009 competition, Southlake completed an extensive application that outlined various aspects of the organization, including workforce, physical environment, work and social atmosphere, compensation, vacation and personal day policies, and health, financial, and family-friendly benefits. In addition, internal communications, performance management, continuing education, and professional development were examined.

This is the third year that the competition has recognized the GTA’s Top 75 Employers.  This special designation recognizes the Greater Toronto employers that lead their industries in providing exceptional places to work. The competition is organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
