Immediate Recruitment

Cardiac Surgical Assistants
Seeking physicians to assist the cardiac surgery team. Cardiac surgeons perform approximately 900 cases per year and are willing to train in endoscopic vein harvesting. To attain addition information, please contact Dr. Charles Peniston at cardiacsurgeryassociates@hotmail.com or interested physicians can submit their curriculum vitae directly to the Chief of Staff.

Emergency Physicians
Our new Emergency Department has annual visits of greater than 66,000 per year and serves a rapidly growing young community. We are seeking candidates who wish to join a cohesive group of Emergency Physicians in a progressive and expanding institution. Candidates with FRCP in Emergency Medicine, CCFP (EM), or extensive experience in Emergency Medicine will be considered. A license to practice in Ontario, as well as current certification in ACLS and ATLS is also required.

Family Medicine
Opportunities are available for family physicians in the local community as well as in a number of communities a short distance of the hospital, some being designated as underserviced. In addition to hospital appointment, opportunities may include participation in hospital call groups, surgical assisting and signing out to large on-call group. Southlake Regional Health Centre is designated a site for a Family Health Team, scheduled to open December 2006 in our new Medical Arts Building currently under development.

Internists
To provide consultative service to the Emergency Department in addition to hospital and community practice. Opportunities for participating in critical care medicine are available.

Neurologist (Adult)
We are seeking a second neurologist to respond to increasing demand for elective hospital consultations and community practice. Interest in stroke patients would be desirable.

Pediatrician
To join five other full-time consultant pediatricians. Pediatric unit has 16 beds; the NICU provided Level II care, including ventilation and TPN, and is undergoing expansion to accommodate 19 neonates. Of the 60,000 ED visits per year, 30% are children. Seeking candidates skilled in comprehensive neonatal resuscitation, stabilization and modern ventilation, and a willingness to participate in a one-in-five on-call schedule. 

Pediatricians (On-Call Locum Opportunities)
The Department of Paediatrics has an immediate requirement for on-call Locum Pediatricians. Locum physicians must possess the FRCPS, current NALS and PALS and be licensed with the CPSO. They will be skilled in comprehensive neonatal resuscitation, stabilization and modern ventilation. Willingness to participate in a one-in-five on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists
Regional Child / Adolescent Mental Health Program

We have an immediate requirement and availability for at least two full-time and/or part-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists to join our multidisciplinary team that currently includes four Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.  Our Regional Child and Adolescent Mental Health Programs include the following:

  • Inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Beds
  • Outpatient Child and Family Clinic
  • Eating Disorder Program
  • Child & Adolescent Crisis Program
  • Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Program

Billing is fee for service with additional support through sessional fees. All programs enjoy a close and collaborative relationship with nearby academic teaching centres.
