Department of Laboratories

Responsible for testing the clinical specimens of our patients, The Department of Laboratories provides lab testing and results to both Hospital in-patients and various Hospital clinics. Divided in to two subsequent departments, Core Laboratory and Pathology Laboratory, the Department offers a wide range of standard and specialized lab-testing services, which help to provide faster accurate results.

Lab Services

Out-patient Testing
Southlake does not offer out-patient laboratory testing. If you have received a requisition from your physician for blood work or another out-patient laboratory test, you can visit a private laboratory, such as Life Labs or Gamma Dynacare, to have your tests completed.

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) Testing
PSA testing can be completed at the Hospital if the test has been ordered as a follow-up to a prostate cancer diagnosis. Please ensure the requisition is completed correctly by your physician.

If other lab tests have also been ordered in combination to the PSA testing, it may be more convenient for you to have all the tests completed at once at a private lab, as the Hospital cannot provide this service.  At this time, PSA testing for screening is not available at the Hosptial.
