Intensive Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit is a specialized 13-bed unit designed to care for patients who are critically ill, who are experiencing complications after surgery, or who have complicated medical conditions.
Having a loved one in the ICU can be a stressful experience. Our staff is available to offer support to you and your family, and can arrange for spiritual care and social work assistance if needed. Our goal is to facilitate the most positive outcome for each and every patient, and their family members.
Visiting the ICU
Visiting your loved one in the ICU is encouraged for short periods of time. Regular visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted, but special considerations may be made. To ensure we provide the best possible care to your loved one, we ask that you avoid visiting during staff report times, which are between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Feel free to speak to a volunteer, or use the wall phone located outside the visitors lounge to inquire about visiting.
During this difficult time, our main priority is the care of the patient. This may require you to leave the bedside at times in order to facilitate care. While we understand this is stressful we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. We are happy to accommodate any special needs that may arise, but please understand that the ICU is unpredictable and things may not go as planned. In this case, the care of the patient is our first priority.
SACU: Surgical Acute Care Unit
SACU is a specialized unit that provides short term monitoring for post-operative thoracic patients or patients with complications after general surgery. Patients are moved to a surgical bed when less intense care is needed, and some may even be discharged home.
