Ways to Give
Endowed Gifts
Create a legacy and become part of Southlake’s strong future.
At Southlake we are committed to caring for people and making their lives better. Part of this commitment includes planning for a strong future. You have the opportunity to create a personal legacy for the Hospital and be part of this future by making a gift to Southlake’s Endowment.
Gifts to the endowment are invested and the income produced annually is used for the work of the hospital. The principal itself is never spent and continues to fund hospital priorities year after year.
Southlake’s endowment is made up of unrestricted; donor designated; and named endowed funds.
Gifts to the Unrestricted Endowment
A gift of any amount may be contributed to Southlake’s unrestricted endowment and every gift helps to ensure the future of health care in Southlake’s communities. Annual grants from the general unrestricted endowment are used to address the areas of greatest need at the hospital. One of the primary uses of grants from the unrestricted endowment is to meet the ongoing equipment needs of the hospital.
Gifts to Donor-Designated Endowed Funds
If you have a special interest in a particular area of health care you may choose to direct your gift to one of the specially designated endowed funds. You can make a gift of any amount to one of the following designated funds:
| Cancer Care Fund |
Palliative Care Fund |
| Cardiac Care Fund |
Rehabilitation Fund |
| Diagnostic Imaging Fund |
Southlake Residential Care Village Fund |
| Emergency Care Fund |
Staff Education Fund |
| Maternal Child Fund |
Surgery Fund |
| Mental Health Fund |

Gifts to Establish Named Endowed Funds
With a gift of $10,000 or more you may create a named endowed fund the way our Anonymous Donor did. Creating a named endowed fund provides you the opportunity to work directly with representatives from the Foundation and the Hospital to determine the purpose and name of your fund (eg. The “Generous Donor Family” Fund). Establishing a named fund is a very meaningful way to create a lasting legacy for your family, to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to honor a physician or staff member who has provided exceptional care.
Named funds may be created through outright gifts as one-time payments or may be pledged over a 3 to 5 year period. A named endowed fund may also be set up through a deferred gift such as a bequest.
The benefits of endowed gifts
- Making a gift to Southlake’s Endowment is a wonderful way for you to create a lasting legacy of support.
- For endowment gifts made during your lifetime you will receive a charitable donation receipt for the full amount of your gift.
- Endowment gifts made through a bequest offer special tax benefits to your estate.
How endowed gifts benefit Southlake
- Your endowed gifts provide Southlake with a reliable, predictable income stream to help the hospital plan for the future and bridge the gap between government funding and the hospital’s needs.
- Having a strong endowment is essential for Southlake to continue to attract and retain the very best physicians, surgeons and medical staff to serve the hospital’s communities.
