Southlake Baby Stars
The memory of the birth of a child is something to be treasured forever. Parents and family members find many ways to record and celebrate this special occasion – through pictures, videos, birth notices, gifts and flowers.
We would like you to celebrate your “dream come true” and what better way to remember this “special little one” than through the Southlake Baby Stars program. Your baby can have their name and birth date permanently recorded on our beautiful Baby Stars wall in our hospital’s Maternal Child department.

Babies’ names are etched on a purple star-shaped plaque hung on two whimsical murals. Stars can be purchased to honor babies born at Southlake Regional as the Fleishaker family did, or at any time during the hospitals' history. Click on Southlake Baby Star to order a baby star now!

Southlake Regional Health Centre has a rich tradition of caring about the kind of birthing experience families want. The Maternal Child program focuses on meeting the needs of the mother, baby and partner, before, during and after birth. The hospital provides a wide range of support for the family while they stay in the hospital as well as when they are back at home. |
We provide compassionate care and support in many ways for the families in our communities. Outpatient services include the following:
- A Baby’s Coming (ABC) Prenatal Clinic to provide prenatal care to expectant mothers, who do not have a local family doctor.
- A breastfeeding clinic to support and assist new mothers with nursing concerns.
- Registered nurses in a postpartum outreach program who visit mothers at home (within a specific geographic distance) if they leave the hospital within 48 hours of giving birth
- Our high-risk perinatal clinic brings specially trained Obstetricians close to home to provide consultation and support to women who have had difficult or high-risk pregnancies.
- A 24-hour/day-parent support line allows parents to call the hospital with concerns about their baby for up to six weeks following birth.
- A pediatric developmental assessment program helps children who are developmentally delayed.
- The You’re the Star program prepares children for surgery.
- The Better Breathing Club teaches children about living with asthma.
When you purchase a plaque for our Baby Stars wall, you not only create a lasting tribute to your child, but your donation supports Southlake Regional Health Centre’s ability to offer all its quality maternal, and paediatric services to other families in your community. To date more than $50,000 has been raised.
A Constellation of Baby Stars
| Theresa Fleishaker and her husband found it very hard to find that special gift for their adult children this past Christmas. They wanted to purchase something worthwhile and meaningful for their five children. When they found out about the Baby Stars program for babies born at Southlake Regional Health Centre, they were so excited that they bought each of their children a Baby Star in their name. Their children were so thrilled and touched by the gift that the Fleishakers’s decided to purchase more Baby Stars for the “special people” in their lives. “We were so happy to find a special gift for such a worthwhile cause, It made for such a wonderful holiday for us” said Theresa Fleishaker. |
