Overview
Southlake’s Cardiac Care Program is committed to providing advanced cardiac services closer to home for the residents living within York Region, Simcoe County, and Muskoka Region.
A physician’s referral is required for the majority of services offered to patients by the regional program. It is the responsibility of the referring doctor to communicate and discuss test results with their patients.

Southlake’s cardiac surgery team is qualified and equipped to perform a number of open heart surgical procedures. They include:

Comprehensive Arrhythmia
The Comprehensive Arrhythmia Program at Southlake provides a variety of sophisticated techniques to detect and treat abnormal heart rhythms. They include:
Electrophysiology Studies (EPS)
Ablation Procedures
Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Insertion
Implantable Loop Recorder
Permanent Pacemaker Insertion
Tilt Table Testing
The program also offers an ICD/Pacemaker Assessment and Follow-Up Clinic.

Invasive/Interventional
The Regional Cardiac Care Program’s Invasive/Interventional team provides the following sophisticated procedures in the Hospital’s state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories:
Angiogram
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)/Angioplasty
Patient education and assessment is provided through the program’s PCI Clinic .
Other procedures performed by the team include intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR), intracoronary thrombectomy, and distal protection for vein graft procedures.
