Arthritis Program
Interprofessional Training Program (TAP ITP)
The Arthritis Program (TAP) at Southlake Regional Health Centre is an award winning interprofessional, patient centred model of care in existence for greater than two decades.
TAP is now leveraging its expertise by offering an Interprofessional Training Program that teaches the program’s interprofessional collaboration techniques to third-party health care teams and hospitals that are looking to adopt successful aspects of this model of care.
TAP ITP consists of individual modules designed to be either stand-alone or presented in a combined format. The potential learner(s) enrolled in the program may be representatives of a team or the entire team working in clinical health care, health administration or health care industry.
The TAP ITP is designed to be delivered in four distinct ways that blend together in each of the four modules, including:
- A web based virtual community using moodle.cdn
- An e-learning component
- An independent mode in which the learner works on his/her own project to apply skills learned within the curriculum.
- A didactic classroom component to facilitate dynamic discussion.
Goals of the Interprofessional Training Program
- Provide the learner with an understanding of an infrastructure for patient centred interprofessional collaboration which is represented using the TAP model of care.
- Provide learners with the opportunity to understand the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to recognize the mechanisms, functions and dysfunctions within teams in order to enhance interprofessional team collaboration/interaction.
- Provide the tools to assist learners in becoming leaders/agents of change within their own team and organization
- Provide the knowledge and skills of the key components of adult education principals such that the learner can plan, develop and deliver effective education programs.
