Teaching

To train the professionals of tomorrow, Southlake physicians and staff must be at the top of their game and knowledgeable about innovations and advancements in treatment.

A strong academic agenda is one of the ways the Hospital can continue to ensure our patients are receiving the latest evidence-based care. It promotes an atmosphere of continual learning, of asking: Is this the best, latest, most efficient, most effective way of doing things?

Training also introduces future doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to the community, many of whom may choose to practise locally when they have completed their training.

There is good evidence that 30 to 40 per cent of trainees will practice near the areas where they did their training. This is an opportunity to have some of the best and brightest young physicians, nurses, social workers, and medical technicians wanting to practise here.
