Respiratory Rehabilitation Program
This program is designed to help improve the health and quality of life for people who are affected by Chronic Lung Diseases (CLD) such as:
- Chronic Bronchitis
- Emphysema
- Asthma
- Bronchiectasis
- Pulmonary Fibrosis
If you have been diagnosed with one of these conditions and have a referral from your family doctor, you may be a candidate for our program.
The Program focuses on providing:
- Education on the cause, progression and treatment of chronic lung disease
- An understanding of when and how to use various medications
- A personalized exercise program to help you improve your everyday abilities
- Coping strategies on how to conserve energy, pace yourself, do your daily activities more easily and what to do when you feel short of breath.
The program's team is also happy to connect you with support groups and smoking cessation services in your area.
Our Goal
Through education and exercise, the Respiratory Rehabilitation Program will:
- Help you understand your condition
- Reduce your respiratory symptoms
- Reduce your number of hospital admissions
- Improve your ability to exercise and perform daily activities
- Provide you with social and emotional support.
Time Requirement
The program is offered in two parts. Part one is a six-week compulsory program, and part two is an optional six-week exercise maintenance program.
There is a $25.00 fee for both the compulsory and the maintenance program. This fee covers the cost of educational materials.
