Dr. Woodrow Wells, MD, FRCPC, is the Head, Medical Director of the Radiation Medicine Program at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. Dr Wells obtained his medical degree in 1977 from the University of Saskatchewan. After medical school, his postgraduate training was at the University of Toronto, and Stanford University in California. He is qualified in Internal Medicine, and in Radiation Oncology.

After training, Dr. Wells has held staff positions in Radiation Oncology in Ontario – at the Kingston Regional Cancer Centre, and at the Princess Margaret Hospital from 1991 to the present. He is also Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto.

In 25 years of practice, Dr. Wells has gained wide-ranging experience in radiation oncology. His interests lie in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and in patient safety. He is co-chair of the Specialty Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the body which sets standards for the training and practice of Radiation Oncology in Canada. He is a keen proponent of patient-centred, evidence based care.
