To request the use of a telephone during your hospital stay, dial “0” and ask the switchboard operator to activate your telephone. You will be charged a nominal daily fee for telephone services.
A Hospitality Network representative will come to your room to collect both television and telephone rental fees.
Outside callers can dial directly into patient rooms. Give your family and friends the Hospital telephone number (905-895-4521) and your extension, as shown on the telephone handset.
In consideration for other patients, incoming calls are blocked between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. Urgent after-hours calls are directed to the nursing station on patient care unit.
Before you are discharged, please inform your relatives and friends when you are being discharged so the next patient does not receive your calls.
Should you have any questions or concerns about your telephone, dial "0" and a switchboard operator will assist you.
Pay phones are also located on every level and in the East and West Building lobbies.
Nurse Call System
Every patient has the ability to call for assistance whenever necessary. Your nurse will explain how the nurse call system works when you are admitted to your room. Patients also have the ability to call for assistance from all washrooms located on patient care units. To activate the system, press the push button or pull the cord—this will transmit your call to the nursing station.
Incoming mail is delivered by Hospital volunteers to your patient care unit. Please inform friends and family to address your mail as follows:

Outgoing mail may be deposited in the Canada Post mailbox located outside of the East Main Entrance. Stamps are available for purchase in the Gift Shop, East Building Level 1.
Internet Service (WiFi)
Southlake offers WiFi internet service to patients and visitors. This service can be accessed in the Hospital by choosing "Patient Internet" as their network.

Language interpretation services are available in more than 100 languages and dialects through the use of a secure two-way video connection to a language interpretation professional.
Send a message to a Patients
Patients can receive written messages from family and friends during their hospital stay. Through the Hospital's website, a special service is available for the family and friends of patients to send written messages to them during their hospital stay. Hospital volunteers will print and deliver these messages to patients weekdays at 8:00 a.m. and weekends between the hours of 2:00 p.m. -- 6:00 p.m. E-mails received on holidays will be delivered the following business day. Environmental and Linen Services
Your room and bathroom will be cleaned routinely by a service assistant or member of the Environmental Services Department. Bedding is changed as it becomes soiled.
The Hospital prohibits patients from bringing electrical equipment, such as fans and radios, into the Hospital. In special circumstances, electrical equipment which is approved by the Canadian Standards Association, and has been inspected by Facility Operations staff, will be allowed. Please advise your nurse of any electrical equipment you have with you and she/he will contact the Facility Operations Department to determine if the item is suitable.
Automated bank machines are located close to the East Main entrance, near the Hospital's Aquene Cafe, and on Level 1 of the Medical Arts Building.
Southlake Regional Health Centre is committed to the promotion of good health. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on hospital property, inside or out
. Patients and visitors wishing to smoke must leave hospital property to smoke. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is available to patients while they are in the Hospital. Ask your nurse about Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

Spiritual and Religious Care
Spiritual and Religious Care
is available at any time through the services of the Hospital Chaplain, community clergy, volunteer chaplains, and pastoral care volunteers to assist patients and family members with their spiritual and/or religious needs without bias. If you would like to see the Hospital Chaplain, or your own minister or church visitor, any member of the healthcare team will be pleased to assist you in making the necessary arrangements.
The Spiritual Centres are located on Level 1 and Level 2 of the East Building and are always open to patients, their families, and friends for meditation and prayer. Use of these centres for rituals is permitted. A nominal fee may apply. Arrangements can be made by contacting ext. 2539.
The volunteer-run Gift Shop, located on Level 1 of the East
Building, offers an assortment of gifts, clothing, toiletries, cards, books and
Gift Shop also offers fresh flowers and floral arrangements which also can be
ordered and delivered to patients by a Southalke volunteer. As flowers with strong scents are
not permitted in the Hospital, the Gift Shop provides acceptable flowers. To place an order, please

Lost and Found
Lost and found items are kept by Facility Operations for a maximum of 14 days. To contact Facility Operations, call 905-895-4521, ext. 2561 and provide your name, telephone number, address, and a description of any lost items. This information will be recorded in the Lost and Found journal. Every effort will be made to locate your lost property.
Southlake is not responsible for items which go missing. We recommend that our patients not bring valuables such as jewelry, large sums of money, or personal mementos to the Hospital.
