Job Summary:
The Cancer Care Inpatient RN plans, co-ordinates and assesses all aspects of care of the client and family to facilitate meeting CIANO Standards of Practice and CHPCA Norms of Practice.The Registered Nurse works within the Standards of Nursing Practice as laid down by the College of Nurses, Regulated Health Professions Act, July 1996, Regulations, Nursing Act (Bill 57), the Guidelines of Ethical Behaviour, policies and practices of the hospital.


  • RN certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • DeSouza Chemotherapy Certificate required within 12 months of hire

  • BScN preferred

  • Certificate of competence CPR

  • Certification in chemotherapy administration

  • Active member of CANO or CPCA preferred

  • Certificate in Oncology preferred

  • Advanced issues in Palliative Care course preferred

  • Current experience (within one year) with the initiation of IV therapy and implanted vascular   access devices

  • Demonstrated teaching expertise in chemotherapy preferred

  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal

  • Analysis / problem assessment

  • Innovative and willing to learn

  • Commitment to customer service and teamwork

  • Demonstrates individual leadership skills

  • Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35
