Job Summary:

·         The Sonographer works as a member of the inter-professional health care team providing their professional expertise to internal/external customers and providing excellent patient care by following the guidelines and standards established by Sonography Canada and the College of Medical Radiation Technologists (CMRTO). Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) is mandatory as of January 1, 2019.

Qualifications:

·       One to two years current experience in Ultrasound is an asset.

·         Graduate of an accredited ultrasound educational program, recognized by Sonography Canada.

·         Current registration and certification/credentials with Sonography Canada and the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) is mandatory. Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) is mandatory as of January 1, 2019.

·         The ability to perform general, obstetrical, small parts and peripheral vascular ultrasound exam is required

·         Current standards: New graduates must obtain Sonography Canada registration within 6 months of being hired

·         30 CMEs required every 3 years through continuing education in order to maintain current registry status with Sonography Canada.

·         Professional liability insurance through Sonography Canada or OAMRS is strongly recommended

·         Analysis / problem assessment skills

·         Innovative and willing to learn

·         Commitment to customer service and teamwork

·         Demonstrates individual leadership skills

·         Preceptorship and mentoring of students

·         Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35.
