Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse exemplifies the standards of nursing practice as defined by:

  • The College of Nurses (January 1996), which is described in the six core professional standards: professional service to the public, knowledge, application of knowledge, ethics, continued competence and professional behaviour, accountability/responsibility.

    Qualifications:

  • Current R.N. certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • BCLS certificate

  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention Course (NVCI) to be completed within 3 months of hire

  • Recent experience working in a medical or surgical nursing unit within the last two years preferred

  • Current competence in using glucose monitoring devices preferred

  • Competence in starting and maintaining IV’s preferred

  • Coronary Care One Certificate preferred

  • Satisfactory completion of a recognized patient assessment course

  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal

  • Analysis / problem assessment

  • Innovative and willing to learn

  • Commitment to customer service and teamwork

  • Demonstrates individual leadership skills
