Job Summary:

The Unit Clerk is a member of the team who works under the direct supervision of the Manager/Team Leader or delegate in performing clerical, receptionist and communication duties on the unit.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum grade 12

  • Previous hospital or medical experience in a clerical role

  • Medical terminology

  • Excellent keyboarding skills 45-50 WPM

  • Demonstrates organizational skills

  • Demonstrates strong customer service  and patient centered skills

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and medical staff

  • Must be able to function competently in emergency situations

  • Demonstrates ability to multi task

  • Computer expertise, Microsoft Word and HBOC preferred

  • Safety Awareness

  • Regular attendance and punctuality is a requirement of the position
