Job Summary:

The Coordination Advisor, Primary Care and Diversity, works in cooperation with the Regional Prevention and Screening Manager, the Regional Primary Care Lead, the Regional GI Endo Lead and other Clinical Leads to ensure that Primary Care practitioners within the Central LHIN region know and access the most updated screening activities for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers and the cultural sensitivities pertaining to each of these provincial screening programs. Specifically:

• The Advisor interacts with Community Stakeholders and clients within the region to promote cancer screening and achieve the strategic screening goals and priorities of Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) and the Regional Cancer Program (RCP), with an emphasis on Under/Never Screened regions (e.g., newcomers/immigrants, men) and diverse populations.

•The Advisor is responsible for coordinating the Regional GI Endo Data collecting and reporting and the Central Region FIT Implementation strategies;

•The Advisor will use and monitor appropriate social media channels to increase the program’s reach across Central LHIN;

•The Advisor will work with the Coordination Advisor, Health Promotion to develop and implement accessible and culturally appropriate screening activities for the region, using a Peer-Education Model when possible to build community capacity.

Qualifications:

·         Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Health Sciences, Public Health, Kinesiology, Psychology or equivalent is required

·         Master’s degree is preferred

·         Certification in Project Management (PMP) considered an asset

·         Two years of experience in health promotion/behavior change required

·         Experience in evidence-based research, project management and evaluation

·         Experience in applying and evaluating social marketing and media to wide audiences

·         Experience in the application of behavior change theoretical frameworks (e.g., Theory of Planned Behaviour, Health Belief Model, Social Cognitive Theory) to translate knowledge/education into tangible/measurable action

·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite imperative; knowledge of other graphic design software and e-technologies is preferred

·         Experience with quality and safety improvement initiatives would be an asset

·         Knowledge of, and experience in, cancer screening programs and prevention is essential; experience in a Regional Cancer Centre or within a Regional Cancer Program is an asset

·         Demonstrated experience in evidence-based research, proposal development and proposal writing.

·         Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships

·         Experience with public presentations and knowledge translation

·         Demonstrated excellent coordination, organizational, problem solving, analytical, and time management skills

·         Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35
