Job Description:

This position will be providing coverage for short call duties, as well as, the ability to cover for FT schedulers when required.  The short call scheduler is responsible for (but not limited to) daily staffing within units and across the organization using the organizations scheduling software program under the direction of the Manager.   The Short call scheduler might be required to be responsible for payroll using the organizations Payroll software program when covering for other schedulers as required. 


  • High School Graduate (Grade 12) Community College preferred

  • Preferred experience of working in hospital environment and basic understanding of hospital terminology

  • Preferred 1 year experience with staffing and scheduling.

  • Preferred knowledge of Collective Agreements and how they apply to scheduling of staff.

  • Clerical skills with typing and keyboarding skills

  • Preferred knowledge of scheduling and payroll software, as well as, windows XP and Excel

  • Ability to work in a multi-task environment and deal with frequent interruptions

  • Ability to deal with conflict management and problem solving

  • Ability to work with a minimum of direction in a busy environment

  • Ability to be on the phone and computer for most of the shift

  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal

  • Innovative and willing to learn

  • Commitment to customer service and teamwork

  • Demonstrates individual leadership skills

  • Proven ability to attend work regularly as per the Attendance Support Policy #HA30 and Procedure #HA35.
