Job Summary

The Crisis Worker provides assessment, triage, treatment/discharge planning, crisis intervention, immediate trauma counseling to patients in psychiatric or psychosocial crisis in the Emergency Department.

Qualifications:

  • MSW
  • Membership in good standing with College
  • Two to five years experience working with acute Mental Health illness
  • Advanced crisis assessment, high risk screening, knowledge of community resources and the Mental Health Act
  • Crisis intervention experience/NVCI certificate
  • Knowledge of addictions
  • Ability to rapidly change workload priorities
  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Analysis / problem assessment
  • Innovative and willing to learn
  • Commitment to positive patient experiences
  • Demonstrates individual leadership and teamwork skills
