Spiritual & Religious Care

Coordinator of Spiritual Care:
Rev. Vicki Cousins, BA, MDiv, MRE, CASC Specialist

The Spiritual Care Team at Southlake provides spiritual and religious care to patients, families, staff, and volunteers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Team strives to meet the spiritual needs of our multi-faith and multi-cultural communities. The program is supported by a Coordinator of Spiritual Care/Chaplain and a staff chaplain. Spiritual leaders, community clergy, unit chaplains, on-call chaplains and lay spiritual care volunteers share their compassion with our Southlake community.

Patients will be visited by a member of the Spiritual Care Team if he/she gives consent upon admission to the Hospital or if a request is made during a patient’s stay at Southlake. If a visit from a spiritual leader from various faith traditions is requested, or a patient asks to receive religious sacraments, arrangements will be made through the Spiritual Care Team.

Did You Know?

A recent survey showed that hospitalized patients ranked compassion, a caring presence, and prayer as top priorities in their spiritual care. We suggest families and friends encourage the patient to seek spiritual support in times of need.

What is Spiritual Care?
Spiritual Care is different for each individual. For some it is having someone to pray with, for others it is simply having someone to talk to.

Spiritual Care is available to all patients and family members regardless of your faith or belief system.
