About the Summer Research Volunteers
Research Volunteers are undergraduate university students in their second,
third, or fourth year, or individuals with a particular interest and/or
background that makes pursing research and quality improvement projects of
interest and relevance to them.
Volunteers submit an application form on which she/he briefly
outlining areas of interest and availability. Southlake’s Volunteer Services staff
will contact selected candidates regarding the next step in the volunteer recruitment process.
Once oriented to the program, volunteers are connected with
the Research and Innovation Department where they meet with a Southlake
Research Scientist to have their specific interests, skills and availability matched to an available projects. The goal in process is to find the best fit possible.
Volunteers normally begin their project work in May and
finish in mid to late August. That said, some
volunteers are able to continue with the program beyond August. Volunteers are
under no obligation to continue beyond August; however for those who wish to
volunteer for a longer period of time, we will work to find an appropriate longer-term
project.
