Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU)

The Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is an eight bed unit. A specially trained interprofessional team provides critical care to acutely ill patients who are experiencing cardiac conditions requiring advanced diagnostic testing, monitoring, and treatment. This includes percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty), cardiac surgery or heart rhythm procedures.


Some of the conditions treated in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit include:

  • Cardiomyopathy
  • Acute coronary syndrome/Myocardial infarction
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Aortic Stenosis
  • Advanced Heart Failure assessment and management
