Nutrition and Cardiovascular Health

Good nutrition goes a long way to improving or maintaining heart health. Eating the right foods will help reduce your blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, assist in achieving and/or maintaining a healthy body weight, and help reduce or prevent high blood pressure.

In this extract from your "Building a Better Life With Cardiovascular Disease" booklet, which you will receive when you join the program, you will learn more about the cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugars in your body, and how dietary fats affect your blood cholesterol and heart health.

You will also find ideas on safe methods of weight loss or control, as well as helpful tips on interpreting food labels, lowering your fat intake, sugar and the sodium in your diet, and increasing the fibre – in short, a heart healthy diet – at home or when eating out.
