Southlake Youth Collaboration Council
At Southlake we
believe that the patient’s perspective is key in our ability to deliver
exceptional healthcare services. The Southlake Youth Collaboration Council
(SYCC) is part of the Patient and Family Advisor Program and is made up of
youth advisors between 12 and 18 years of age. The goal of the SYCC is for youth to work in partnership with staff, physicians and
community partners when discussions, plans, and decisions are being made about
the delivery of healthcare services at Southlake to include youth perspectives.
What is a Youth
A Youth Advisor
is a newly created volunteer position under the Patient and Family Advisor
Program at Southlake. Any person between the ages of 12 and 18 who, within the
past five years, has been a patient or a family member of a patient at
Southlake or is receiving healthcare related services in the community may
apply for a Youth Advisor position. The role includes, but is not limited to,
participating on the SYCC, special projects or working
groups with Southlake staff and physicians to:
- Assist in the planning and design of programs, services, and facilities
- Assist in the development of various quality improvement initiatives and projects
- Provide input into policies, processes, and educational materials
- Evaluate services provided
