Medicine Program

The Acute Medicine Program aims to provide high-quality healthcare to our patients and their families. The program has 7 in-patient units and range of out-patient clinics.

Our multidisciplinary team provides cutting-edge medical care to acutely ill medical patients followed by a safe and timely transition to the next level of care. We strive to deliver the best possible results for our patients and their families satisfaction.

Our Medicine Team

Each member of our healthcare team has a specific role to play, but together, they strive to provide healthcare excellence to each patient and family. Our team consists of:  

  • Doctors – Hospitalists (doctors who work exclusively in hospitals), Internists (doctors who specialize in the medical treatment of patients)
  • Registers Nurses
  • Registered Practical Nurses
  • Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) Nurses
  • Clinical Nurse Educators

In-Patient Units

The Acute Medicine program consists of seven in-patient units, which provide expert care 24 hours a day. They are:

  • Neurology & Stroke
  • General Internal Medicine
  • Respiratory
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Transitional Care to appropriate level of care facilities or home
  • Critical Care
  • Palliative Care
  • Endocrinology
  • Rheumatology
These in-patient units are located on Levels 2, 3, 6 of the East Building and can be accessed using the Central Elevators.
