Summer Research Volunteer Program at Southlake
The application period is now closed for Summer Research Volunteer Program.  

Each summer, the Research and Innovation Department at Southlake recruits students to volunteer on a variety of research and quality assurance projects. Volunteers are matched to projects that best fit their interest, skills and availability.

The projects that make up this program consists of a variety of clinical, operational, data and curiosity questions, posed by Southlake staff and physicians, with the goal of producing a final project result by the end of summer.

Requirements

To apply to the Summer Research Volunteer Program you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a post-secondary student in second-, third-, or fourth-year, or other work/life experiences and an interest in volunteering
  • Able to commit one full day per week, or two half days per week, between May to August
  • Be able to commit to a total of 60 hours of volunteer service between May to August
  • Meet all of Southlake's Volunteer Services requirements (i.e. phone interview, vulnerable sector check, immunizations etc.)
  • Have an understanding of research methodology
  • Have relevant experience with research, academic, volunteer and/or work experience
  • Be detail oriented
  • Be punctual
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to perform literature searches
  • Are comfortable working with data

Getting Started

To apply to becoming a Summer Research Volunteer click on the "Apply Now" button below. We do receive more applications than there are projects available, so it is best to apply early. Applications are accepted mid-January to the end of February of each year.
