Bizindumoowin • To Listen by Donald Chrétien

The impact of Aboriginal artist Donald Chrétien springs from his passion for colour and woodland-style expression.

This exploration of heritage has him concentrating on the Ojibwe clans and culture.

For the Vancouver Olympics, Chrétien created an installation piece, titled: Ngashi Nijii Bineshiinh or Mother, Friend, Small Bird, and his art is on display at Owen Sound’s Grey Roots Museum and relates the history of the Anishinaabe.

Of late he was privileged to illustrate Basil Johnston’s book, “Walking in Balance” – ten Anishinaabe stories.

Donald makes his home in Newmarket, where he combines his Indigenous knowledge and 30 plus years of artistic practice.
