Dr. David Fell brings more than 26 years of experience in the delivery of advanced cardiac care services to the Patient Experiences role. He graduated in Medicine at Queen's University, Kingston in 1981 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and then Cardiology at the University of Toronto. He was Chief Resident in Cardiology at Sunnybrook Medical Centre from 1985 to 1986. Between 1986 and 1988, he was awarded a two-year Fellowship in Cardiology at Toronto General Hospital to conduct research in nuclear cardiology and adult congenital heart disease.
 
Dr. Fell joined Southlake in 1999 as Physician Leader, Regional Cardiac Care Program and Chief of Cardiology responsible for the implementation and development of advanced tertiary cardiac care services. Dr. Fell led the program to establish a clear vision and strategic plan, and recruit highly specialized clinicians. Under his leadership, the program grew to become the third largest regional cardiac care program in Ontario and has received provincial, national and international recognition.

Dr. Fell holds a number of professional affiliations, including: the Ontario Medical Association; College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario; the Canadian Medical Association; the American College of Cardiology; the American Heart Association; and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was the winner of the Ursala Bangs Award at the University of Toronto's Cardiology Research Competition in 1987 and 1988, and was recognized with Southlake's Physician Award of Excellence in 2010 – the Hospital's highest level of recognition for service and practice excellence.
