Healthy Eating 4 Healthy Life: Weight Management Program

7 week; 2 hour sessions

$50 fee

Meal planning principles, portion control & balanced eating, label reading & grocery shopping tips, emotional eating, eating out & holiday eating, chronic disease & lifestyle management.

Healthy Eating 4 Healthy Life: Follow Up

For those who have completed the Healthy Living 4 Healthy Life Weight Management Program, these monthly group sessions will help keep you on track with weight management. These sessions are led by a Registered Dietitian, with topics based on participant’s interests and suggestions.

Craving Change Workshop

4 week; 2 hour sessions

Understand your cravings, identifying internal & external triggers, & learn new coping strategies to regain control over emotional eating.

Cholesterol & Blood Pressure Management (Lipid Clinic)

2 hour session

Learn about the basics of heart healthy eating and how to include diet and lifestyle strategies to help you manage your cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, as well as how to prevent or reverse heart disease.

Diabetes-Friendly, Plant-Based Cooking Workshop

2 week; 3 hour sessions

$15 + tax per session

Looking to sharpen your culinary skills, to taste the world of vegetarian dishes or to transition towards a vegetarian-friendly lifestyle? If any of the above describes you, come and join our Registered Dietitians and a professional chef as they show you how to plan well balanced, vegetarian-friendly meals through a cooking demonstration and hands-on recipe makeover.Lunch is included.

Diabetes and Exercise Seminar

2 hour session

Know you should exercise, but don’t know how to start? Our theory-only workshop will teach you topics ranging from components of physical fitness to pre- & post-exercise nutrition, all while keeping you safe with your diabetes management. *Theory only* *Prerequisite to Action 4 Life*

Action 4 Life

3 week; 1.5 hour sessions

Let’s get active! Learn to safely use exercise equipment, stretch and strengthen your muscles, and learn about various community resources available to you. *Must complete Diabetes and Exercise Seminar before enrollment in this class.

Resistance Training Class

A 2 hour session

Is your exercise program lacking resistance training? Do you want to learn how to use weights and bands? This workshop will equip you with knowledge and resources to carry out strengthening exercise. Come prepared to exercise! *Must complete Par-Q questionnaire prior to class

Wednesday mornings (9:00-11:00 am):   May 17, June 14, July 12, August 16, September 13, October 11, November 8, December 6

Magna Exercise Program

6 month; 1.5 hours per week $145 fee; Dates: TBA

Each class consists of 30 min of education & up to 60 min of exercise. Exercise will mainly consist of using the walking track at the Magna Centre. Please come dressed for indoor exercise. Please bring your glucometer and water.

Stress Management

4 week; 2 hour sessions; Dates & Times: TBA

Enhance your ability to reduce intensity & impact of stress, learn & practice relaxation techniques, improve physical health & emotional well-being as well as find ways to integrate these techniques into daily life.

Mood Matters

4 week; 2 hour sessions

This workshop is facilitated by a social worker and addresses some of the common emotional challenges that people with a chronic illness face. In a supportive group environment, participants learn strategies to improve mood and emotional well-being, and become informed about available community supports and programs.

Healthy Living Now

6 week; 2 hour sessions

$20 fee

A peer support group where positive self-management techniques to gain control your health and get the most out of your medical appointments.
