Our Clinics

The Heart Rhythm Program works with the P.A.C.E. Cardiology Office. Our out-patient Device Clinic is located in the Medical Arts Building, directly across the street from the Hospital's Main Building. Several types of appointment take place in this clinic, including:

Remember to always bring your medicaiton in its original container(s) to all of your appointments. This is essential to ensure safe medication management.

Cardiac Device Follow-up Appointments
Patients who have an implanted Cardiac device, such as a Permanent Pacemaker, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), or Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) will need routine follow-up visits at the Clinic every 6 – 12 months, or as required. Patients who live a far distance from the Hospital may be able to have their device followed remotely by means of a monitor in their home which transmits information to the clinic. This option can be discussed at one of the initial visits to the clinic.

During a follow-up visit, you can expect to see a Device Nurse who will make sure your device is functioning properly and make any necessary adjustments to the settings. You may also see a Nurse Practitioner or Physician with regards to management of any ongoing or new cardiac health issues. These appointments can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours to complete.

Pre-assessment Appointments prior to procedures
Some Electrophysiology procedures will involve a pre-operative assessment prior to the procedure. Pre-assessment appointments will last up to 4 hours, as you meet with several members of our team and have additional testing done if required. You will receive teaching and instructions about your procedure and have all your questions answered, to ensure you are properly prepared. It is a good idea to bring a family member or friend to accompany you to this appointment to help with the questions and information.

Arrhythmia Consultation Appointments
Patients who need consultation or management by an Electrophysiologist will be seen at the P.A.C.E. Cardiology office. The Heart Rhythm Program works closely with P.A.C.E. Cardiology to provide seamless care to our Heart Rhythm Patients.
