What is Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy uses powerful drugs to kill cancer cells, control their growth, or relieve pain symptoms.

Chemotherapy may involve one drug, or a combination of two or more drugs, depending on the type of cancer.

Chemotherapy can be used in combination with other treatments such as surgery or radiation to make sure all cancer cells have been eliminated. A range of medications and techniques are available to help ease your journey through treatment. They can help reduce and, in some cases, prevent the effects of chemotherapy. Please keep in mind that not everyone experiences serious side effects and the discomforts are usually temporary.

Learning all you can about chemotherapy and what side effects you can expect are the best ways to overcome your concerns and help you to help yourself get well. Knowledge can help you gain a sense of control and to become an active partner in your own care.

Begin your chemotherapy journey by finding out how chemotherapy works and what it is.
